Afghan women once held seats in parliament, served as ministers, judges, and governors — roles from which they are now completely excluded. In response, Window for Hope invests in sustaining and repositioning this leadership capacity. We work with Young Afghan political activists, civil servants, and women local community leaders to build platforms for political advocacy in exile and civic participation inside Afghanistan. Informal governance mechanisms, such as women’s shuras in Exile. In addition, we facilitate engagement with international institutions so that Afghan women continue to shape national and international discourses on governance, justice, and human rights. Leadership does not end with displacement or erasure; we aim to preserve these voices and position them as critical actors in shaping Afghanistan’s future and holding the global community accountable.
